This group of drawings was made with graphite stick, graphite powder, and liquid graphite applied in broad forceful strikes as well as slow loopy strokes. Together with rubbings and rub-on letters, the drawings attempt to provoke a tension between the picture plane and a sense of visual depth.

Avoiding horizons, ground plane, and vanishing points, a perception of spatial depth relies primarily on tone, texture, scale, and contrast.
